The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association is pleased to announce Campbell, Callie, and Lauren as the DFW Hokies 2023 scholarship award recipients!

Campbell is a 2023 graduate of Carroll Senior High who plans to join Virginia Tech’s Corps of Cadets, with aspirations of serving in the United States Navy. He will study in the College of Engineering and plans to major in Building Construction. Campbell’s background as an Eagle Scout and participant in extracurricular activities like sports and community service have prepared him for the structured and disciplined career track he looks forward to at Virginia Tech. He also looks forward to gaining hands on experience and internship opportunities that will prepare him to support large-scale projects in the military.

Callie graduated from Allen High School in 2023 full of school spirit and passionate for problem solving, collaborating, and designing. She discovered Virginia Tech during college and career night at her high school and had the opportunity to attend Hokie Focus and Women’s Preview. Callie will be studying in the College of Engineering where she looks forward to building products hands-on and seeing her designs come to life. She will be part of the Hypatia Living Learning Community in the fall, where she will get to collaborate with and learn from mentors, helping her to prepare for a successful future career.

Lauren is a 2023 graduate of Highland Park High School where she took advantage of opportunities to explore ways in which she could contribute to the conservation and protection of the environment. In the summer of 2021, she lived on a boat in the Caribbean where she learned more about conservation of marine wildlife. She will continue pursuing her efforts as a climate advocate, awareness ambassador and environmental education promoter at Virginia Tech while studying in the College of Natural Resources. While Lauren studies to be a Wildlife Biologist, she also intends to participate in Sustainable Blacksburg, a service program that reflects the sense of community and service that embodies Ut Prosim.
