The Dallas and Fort Worth Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association is pleased to announce two 2018 scholarship award recipients.
Alden
Alden is a 2018 Carroll Senior High School graduate from Southlake, TX. In addition to his strong academic performance, Alden is an active leader in the community. He has gained significant leadership experience with the Civil Air Patrol, North Georgia Senior Military Academy, and Boys’ State and has contributed extensively to his community through service and mission trips. While at Virginia Tech Alden will be a member of the Corps of Cadets as he pursues a degree in Political Science with a minor in Leadership and International Affairs. After graduation, Alden intends to pursue a career in the military.
Emily
Emily is also a 2018 Carroll Senior High School graduate from Southlake, TX. In addition to her stellar academic achievements in a very rigorous academic schedule, during her high school years, Emily has been active in athletics including girls lacrosse and cross country, was recognized with membership in several honor societies and has been an active community volunteer. At Virginia Tech, Emily will study Biology and intends to attend Medical School thereafter.
Emily and Alden clearly exemplify the Virginia Tech motto – Ut Prosim, embrace the Hokie spirit and already have a zeal and enthusiasm for the University. Congratulations to Alden, Emily and all of the rising freshmen Hokies from the DFW area. We wish you all the best as you begin your adventure at Virginia Tech!
